Urunga Neighbourhood Centre Incorporated

Activities & Outcomes in 2019

Urunga Neighbourhood Centre is a community hub where people come for individual support and assistance. Individuals and families experiencing social and/or financial disadvantage are a priority. We link people with information, services and support networks to help them to have their needs met. This year the centre offered food rescue including free meals, free internet access, free Tax Help, free counselling, a volunteer program and inclusive community activities and events. *The Mobile Resource Playgroup ran three weekly supported playgroups across the Bellingen Shire for families with children 0 – 5 years. The service prioritises vulnerable families and works with parents to encourage and support them to become more confident in their parenting role. The service links families to other support and well being services and to support networks in their community. *Urunga Men's Shed is under the auspice of Urunga Neighbourhood Centre Incorporated and provides a shed workshop for men of all ages, especially men who are retired, to get together, making friends, share and learn skills while working on projects for themselves but more often for residents and other local community groups and organisations. Being part of the Shed has helped to improve men’s well-being and combats issues such as depression, isolation or loneliness.
