African Sub-Sahara International Development Agency

Also known as “ASSIDA”, African Sub-Sahara International Development Agency is a small-scale charity established in 2013. Their main activity is registered as social services primarily serving people from a culturally and linguistically diverse background.

In Australia, we organised information sessions for young people. We received funding to run a soccer project for young women and girls and we implemented that project in Sydney. We helped women to find affordable housing in Western Sydney. We supported young people to obtain employment. We held fundraising activities to support young orphans in Africa with the costs of education. We have provided many opportunities for Australian TAFE and University students to attend work placements with ASSIDA. We recruited and supported 22 volunteers nationally and some of them were referred to us via Centrelink to obtain work experience. We organised a cultural day (ASSIDA Happy Day) to promote cultures of Sub-Saharan Africa to wider Australian community and raise awareness of ASSIDA work. We participated in the largest African Festival - Africultures - and promoted work of ASSIDA. We participated in Blacktown and Parramatta Community Services Expos. We delivered 2 cross-cultural trainings to community workers from different organisations -attended by 17 people in total.
