FSHD Global Research Foundation Limited is a large-scale charity established in 2007. Their main activity is registered as grant-making activities primarily serving general community in australia.

The FSHD Global Research Foundation not only leads the not-for-profit sector for its transparency and accountability with donations, it remains true to its public statement: 100% of all cash tax deductible donations have been allocated to current or future medical research investments, grants and education whilst the Foundations operations are supported by non-tax deductible sponsorship's. With no government support, this unique charity model offers great transparency and accountability in allowing us to fulfil the Foundation's mission. It has also changed the Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy (FSHD) research space since its inception in 2007. In the short space of 11 years, the Foundation has raised over $10.7 million in donations alone which have funded 48 research projects in 10 countries. The Foundations aim is to increase awareness and fund national and international researchers to undertake both clinical and basic research projects that can lead to identifying the cause and a future cure for FSHD. We also aim to increase the knowledge and awareness of FSHD among medical practitioners, researchers, patients, donors and the general community. FSHD Global invests directly into well managed Biotechs that have a major focus on technology which has the prospect of leading to clinical trials in patients with any Muscular Dystrophy that can: Grow muscle cells in human tissue Improve muscle wellness Develop wearable technology to assist in movement 2019 was another very successful year with revenue of $1,468,674 raised across both tax deductible and non-tax deductible fundraising. As we approach the 12th financial year the Foundation continues to be committed to its mission to find a cure for FSHD within five years. FSHD is a disease that affects an estimate of one million people globally. It is caused by an over expression of a protein called DUX4, which is toxic to muscle. The true prevalence of this disease is still unknown, due to poor diagnostics and misdiagnosis, many people live unaware they carry the genetic gene, at risk of passing down generations.
