Health Care Consumers Assoc Of The A.C.T. Incorporated is a large-scale charity established in 1978. We were able to improve the safety and quality of health services in the following ways: - Supporting consumer representatives to participate in health service planning, health service delivery and monitoring the quality and safety of services. - Providing consumer input into health policy and service improvements. - Conducting consumer research in different areas of the health system to identify gaps and improve services. - Creating the Canberra Health Literacy Network website. This is a central point for health literacy information, resources, and training for the ACT. It has information for consumers, and for people who work for health and community services . - Running health literacy sessions to the ACT community to increase their knowledge of health services, their rights, how to be active in their care and navigate the health system.
