YFS Ltd is a large-scale charity established in 1986. Their main activity is registered as social services primarily serving general community in australia.
In 2018-19, we launched a new strategic plan that commits us to ongoing research and development. Our aim is to learn as much as we can so we can better fulfil our mission to back vulnerable people in the greater Logan community to be independent and participate in society. Our 2018-19 Impact Report, which I am pleased to attach, reviews our progress to date. It outlines evaluations of our long-running youth-engagement program YouthLink, our Step by Step family support team and our Project Hera partnership with The Queensland Police Logan Domestic Violence Unit, which have provided valuable insights for all our teams. It also reviews a research partnership between our R4Respect youth ambassadors and the Australian National Research Organisation for Womens Safety (ANROWS), which is informing our ongoing work with young people. These and many more of our learnings from last financial year have made an impact on Logan. Not only did we respond to more than 11,600 requests for assistance. We worked with more than 6700 vulnerable people, and more than 600 people gained skills at our e-waste recycling social enterprise, Substation33. Additionally, the opening of our new Jimboomba hub in August 2018 enhanced our ability to work effectively in south west Logan and the Scenic Rim, with three YFS teams based there and others offering outreach services including staff from outside organisations such as The Centre for Women & Co. and Centrelink. For further insights, I encourage you to see the report.
