Generation Next Australia Limited
Generation Next Australia Limited is a large-scale charity established in 2010. Their main activity is registered as mental health and crisis intervention primarily serving youth - 15 to under 25.
In 2018, Generation Next delivered educational programs to professionals in the form of its Mental Health and Wellbeing of Young People seminar. The seminars provide vital education and training on key issues anxiety, depression, eating disorders, body image, sleep and eSafety to assist professionals in their day to day work with young people and within the wider community, in particular parents and carers. In addition, Generation Next presented its Kids in Cyberspace program that works parallel to the main program. Focussing on topics relevant to youth, parents and teachers in the digital space, the program ran in the two cities of Sydney and Melbourne. Generation Next again conducted its student education initiative targeted at high school students; the student programs have been extremely successful in building mental health literacy, increasing help seeking skills and providing young people with the tools to better look after their mental health and moreover prevent the onset of mental illness. Generation Next has also undertaken further research in this area including extensive evaluation to continue to refine the program. Generation Next produced a series of free webcasts for parents, professionals and the wider community covering a range of issues including sleep, anxiety, mental illness and sexting. A key advantage of the webcasts is that they can assist a wider audience and reach those in rural and remote areas. Generation Next has purposely ensured the webcasts are free so that they can be accessed regardless of location of financial constraints. Generation Next also continued its presence on YouTube and Podbean, providing educational videos and podcasts to the community as well as continued to undertake research on current and emerging issues affecting the mental, social and emotional wellbeing of young people to identify preventative, treatment or management measures of mental illness in young people.
