Road to Refuge Inc
Road to Refuge Inc is a small-scale charity established in 2014. Their main activity is registered as right to free movement and asylum primarily serving migrants, refugees or asylum seekers.
We provided training, tools and networking opportunities to people with lived experience of seeking refuge, particularly those experiencing poverty, distress and discrimination in Australia, in a manner that will assist to alleviate that disadvantage. We assisted people with lived experience of seeking refuge to counter harmful narratives that contribute to distress and discrimination through the empowerment, training and platforming of individuals and members of the community enabling them to tell their story and change the conversation around asylum seekers in mainstream Australia to one that is positive, ethical and constructive. We promoted people with lived experience of seeking refuge in their local community to encourage community engagement, social cohesion and strengthening community ties.
