Kurri Kurri & District Pre School Kindergarten

Also known as “Kurri Preschool”, Kurri Kurri & District Pre School Kindergarten is a large-scale charity established in 1998. Their main activity is registered as other education primarily serving early childhood - aged under 6.

Our local community is very supportive of our early childhood program. Over the past year we have continued encouraging literacy, healthy minds and bodies. We have weekly visits with the children walking to the library to support our literacy and this also enables to children to connect to their environment along the way. Our staff undertook further study to increase their professional skills and knowledge. Research supports higher trained staff improve educational outcomes for children and our centre supports this thinking. Our locker room was converted into a shared art space. What an incredibly valuable space this has become, developing into a vibrant hub for creative minds. With the brainstorming of children, parents and staff the children's bags where moved to outside on hooks. The children loved this idea. "It's just like big school" they told us. Children are central to our curriculum plans. The children's wonderings, thinking and questioning have provoked educational journeys to new spaces and places well beyond our expectations. We received the rating of "Exceeding the National Quality Standard" for the second time last year.
