Friends of Refugees Inc
Also known as “Friends of Refugees”, Friends of Refugees Inc is a small-scale charity established in 2014. Their main activity is registered as community development primarily serving early childhood - aged under 6 children - aged 6 to under 15 youth - 15 to under 25 adults - aged 25 to under 65 adults - aged 65 and over families migrants, refugees or asylum seekers people from a culturally and linguistically diverse background financially disadvantaged people people at risk of homelessness/ people experiencing homelessness people with chronic illness (including terminal illness) people with disabilities unemployed persons victims of disaster females males.
We provided food aid/material aid to 1,500 people asylum seekers and refugees each week. Our 600 hours of English classes during the year were well attended and are of particular benefit to those with very minimal literacy skills. We also assisted 21 people to find work through our employment pathways support programs. The friendship and support provided by our 100+ volunteers ensures that asylum seekers and refugees feel welcome to our community.
